Burning fossil fuels such as coal, gas and oil
releases their stored carbon into the air as carbon
dioxide. By contrast, burning wood is largely
carbon neutral, with the CO2 released during combustion
being absorbed by other trees as they grow. In
addition the whole process is renewable as long
as more trees are planted to replace those felled.
The
only increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide when
burning wood comes from transport and processing,
All Nicholsons logs are locally grown, processed
and sold making burning our logs among the most
climate-friendly forms of heating available.
The
logs we sell at Nicholsons are the natural product
of our tree-felling and tree surgery work.
Our
core business is arboriculture, and for every
tree our surgeons cut down, our Forestry Division
will have planted many thousands more new trees.
